You can enter from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and it closes at
5 p.m.
It means “Young Mountain”
It’s the big mountain that gives the character to
the whole archaeological complex. In the summit of
Wayna Picchu you can observe a group of platforms
that were used for religious-aesthetic purpose and
you can also see a temple that was in process of
being built or partially destroyed. Although the
access is a little bit difficult, the view that you
have from the top of the mountain is incredible and
it’s worth the effort to climb it.
Wayna Picchu must have serve as a post to guard and
also as a centre of communication, maybe, as it is
speculated, through conventional visual signals.
The imposing attractive beauty of this natural
mountain, makes it a place that you won’t want to
miss and will make an unforgettable memory of the
citadel for you.

of the moon, in with you can observe Stares, grottos,
benches and hornacinas.
How do I get to Wayna Picchu?
In order to reach the top of Wayna Picchu, first you
have to get Machu Picchu Citadel, you will have to
climb for a very narrow path, it will take you 45
minutes to 1 ½ hour to complete it and you will
arrive to a plce where you will see and amazing
landscape of Machu Picchu Citadel, it will take you
45 minutes to go down. The time depends of you
physical condition.
Quick tips/Suggestions
You have to enter the Wuayna Picchu before 2 P.M,
and you have to leave it before 4 P.M.
The track to the temple of the moon is hard, with
steps during the whole trek; the average time that
one has to trek to arrive and come back to Wayna
Picchu is 3 hours.
Take all the precautions needed, because the steps
to get to Wayna Picchu are really raised, in the
same way is the trek to the temple of the moon, the
trek is very hard and it takes too much time to do
it.
Keep in mind that the sanctuary closes at 5:00 P.M.

There’s no entrance fee to Wayna Picchu and the
Temple of the moon.
